Summer ball is in full swing now.
The sample size is still extremely small, but I found statistics for nine current or future Tigers. Seven are on Cape Cod, and two more are out west in the Pacific Empire League.
There are also some Tigers in the signing class that are participating this summer. We’ll get to some of those as the summer progresses.
CAPE COD LEAGUE
Reagan Ricken (Falmouth Commodores) 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Omar Serna (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) 1-for-5, HR, 1 RBI, BB, HBP, K
Dawson Park (Cotuit Kettleers) 2-for-10, 2 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 4 K
Santiago Garcia (Brewster Whitecaps) 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K
Bino Watters (Chatham Anglers) 1-for-4, RBI, 3 R, 4 BB, 1 K
Gavin Guidry (Chatham Anglers) 3.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 2 HBP
Jason Wachs (Wareham Gatemen) 0-for-15, RBI, 1 BB, 7 K
PACIFIC EMPIRE LEAGUE
William Patrick (Healdsburg Prune Packers) 8-for-24 (.333), 6 BB, 6 K, 7 RBI, .452 OBP, 1 2B
Jack Ruckert (Healdsburg Prune Packers) 9-for-28 (.321), 10 BB, 3 K, .512 OBP, 9 RBI, 1 2B
I will start with Santiago Garcia and Gavin Guidry, because both would like to sign professionally this summer. Garcia is off to a decent start, and Guidry has been hit around a little. It’s stuff over results for those guys right now in a professional audition.
Obviously, Jason Wachs is off to a brutal start. It’s only 15 at bats, so no reason to sound an alarm, but he’s clearly fighting things after a week.
Omar Serna has a wooden bat longball which is nice to see.
Reagan Ricken’s lone outing was a real positive. He will make two more appearances before shutting it down and heading back to Baton Rouge for some work here with the LSU staff.
Dawson Park and Bino Watters are going to get some at bats this summer. It’ll be nice to see them swing the bat well. Watters has already been on base five times in two games.
The two Louisiana rising sophomores in the Pacific Empire League are both off to nice starts. Ruckert had six hits this week including a pair of multi-hit games. He’s spending more time at second base recently and getting on base at a better than .500 clip. Patrick has stolen three bases which is encouraging.
