LSU MLB Draft Tracker

Major League Baseball’s draft shapes college rosters as much as professional clubs.

The action begins Saturday at noon central with round 1-4. On Sunday, rounds 5-20 finish things up. Dreams will be made, and dollars will fly. Back in Baton Rouge, Jay Johnson will wait to see how his signing class shapes up.

Follow along with us as we track the action for two days.

As a reminder, in rounds 1-10, the picks are slotted. If a player is selected in those rounds, it’s extremely likely he signs. Should a team draft a player in the top 10 rounds and not sign that player, the organization loses that slot money from its signing pool. It cannot be reallocated. So, the first 10 rounds are the most important. Teams that save money on picks by signing players under slot early in the draft can use that extra money to sign later picks.

Players have until August 3 to sign with a professional team.
