My social media feed was flooded with Jared Jones longballs over the weekend.
The former Tiger was bashing baseballs out of the ballpark in Greensboro all week long. He homered once on Tuesday, twice on Wednesday and again on Thursday. That ran his season-long total to 14 in 63 games at High-A.
Jones is hitting .325 with and OPS of .970 for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in his first full professional season.

While Paul Skenes and Derek Curiel are the LSU headliners in the Pirates organization, Jones is enjoying a great start to his professional career.
It was Jones, not Curiel, who led the 2025 national champions in hits. That has translated to the lower levels of minor league baseball. Jones is 22 years old which makes him very old for that level. A promotion to AA would be a tougher test.
In three seasons in Baton Rouge, Jones launched 64 homers, the most ever by a three-year player. He ranks third all-time behind Eddy Furniss and Brad Cresse. He’ll now attempt to do something neither of those two did, play in the major leagues.
