Cam Jordan’s absence may extend to regular season

Some injuries are starting to pile up for the New Orleans Saints’ defensive line and the latest update may be one of the most impactful yet.

Per head coach Kellen Moore, veteran edge rusher Cameron Jordan, who is managing a hamstring injury, may see his absence extend into the regular season.

“Yeah, we’ll see, it could possibly get into the season,” Moore said. “But you never know. These things you’ve got to have some patience with it, let it take its course and we’ll collect more and more information as we go.”

Jordan has been out of three practices since experiencing the injury. For one, he was in Canton, Ohio for former quarterback Drew Brees’s Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement.

Jordan signed back with the team this offseason for what is expected to be his final year in the NFL. A training camp injury certainly wasn’t a part of the plan and one that could extend into the season is even more unexpected.

The Saints’ defensive line has already taken a beating throughout camp.

Along with Jordan, defensive lineman Bryan Bresee is out for the season with an ACL tear, nose tackle Davon Godchaux left the most recent practice with an ankle injury, and rookie Christen Miller only just returned from toe injury. Another defensive tackle, John Ridgeway III has missed multiple practices with a back injury and two undrafted rookies have been waived.

A tough start for the Saints’ trenches in the defensive side.
