After being enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, New Orleans Saints legend and former quarterback Drew Brees will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor this season, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
The ceremony will take place at halftime of the Week 5 home matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, one week after the franchise commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Superdome’s re-opening following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
The Saints and Brees worked closely together on settling the date for his name’s unveiling in the rafters of the Caesars Superdome. While it was expected that the Week 4 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons might be the day, this avenue allows the event to be singularly focused on the franchise’s best player.
Week 4 will be about New Orleans. Week 5 celebrates Brees’ impact in the city.
During Brees’ enshrinement speech in Canton, Ohio, he thanked Saints fans for allowing the team to “be special, smell greatness and finish strong” with their support.
After Week 5, his name will hang, immortalized, inside the stadium that those same fans call home.
The Saints’ Ring of Honor celebrates those that have had a significant impact on the franchise and its history. Perhaps no player embodies that definition more than Brees.
On Oct. 11, 2026, during halftime of the Saints and Vikings matchup, the Superdome will become emblazoned with the name that helped to revitalize a city, build a champion and establish a standard.
