Luke Tucker’s path to LSU baseball will include a detour.
The signee enrolled in and completed summer school at LSU but will spend a year at McLennan Junior College in Waco, Texas prior to a planned return to LSU.
“I will be attending McLennan JC for my freshman year keeping my draft eligibility. I am still committed to LSU and will be attending LSU after McLennan,” Tucker wrote on Instagram.
At bats will be tough to come by in the Tiger infield this year. Steven Milam returns at shortstop, and Cade Kurland and Dawson Park transferred in as likely starters at second and third. Jack Ruckert also comes back as a sophomore who started the second half of SEC play in 2026.
Tucker, a big left-handed hitting third baseman, will get to play every day at the JUCO level to develop as Milam, Kurland and Park will vacate a ton of infield playing time entering 2028.
