Six months after playing in his first Super Bowl, former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte’s moving closer to home.
Boutte, who was set to enter his fourth season with the New England Patriots, was traded Monday to the Houston Texans for another player and draft pick, ESPN’s Adam Shefter reported.
The 24-year-old Boutte, a native of New Iberia, was sent to Houston for 2025 sixth-round pick Jaylen Reed and a draft pick which will be a seventh-round selection in 2028.
New England found itself deep at wide receiver with the off-season acquisition of AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles, and free agent signing of Romeo Doubs.
Reed played in seven games for the Texans in 2025 with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Boutte compiled 78 catches in three seasons for the Patriots with 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns. His best season was in 2024, teaming with quarterback Drake Maye for 43 grabs for 589 yards and 3 TDs.
The Patriots advanced to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif. where they lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 29-13. Boutte had one catch for 21 yards in four targets.

Boutte was a five-star prospect out of Westgate High in New Iberia when he signed with LSU. He set a Southeastern Conference single-game record with 14 catches for 308 yards and three touchdowns in a 53-48 victory over Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin.
He played in 28 games at LSU with 131 catches for 1,782 yards and 16 TDs. At the time of his season-ending injury against Kentucky, Boutte was the nation’s leader in touchdown receptions with nine.
