As the roster cutdown deadline approaches, the NFL has seen its trade market come to life since the last preseason games came to a close.
While the New Orleans Saints haven’t completed a trade themselves, it’s clear that they have been active in both the pursuit of players and in receiving interest from other clubs.
Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars have inquired about the availability of backup quarterback Spencer Rattler.
LouisianaSports.Net can confirm the report per sources with knowledge of the Jaguars’ trade conversations.
This was an expected outcome from strong performances by both backup quarterbacks over the preseason.
With additional teams still looking for answers at the position, such as the Miami Dolphins, more phone calls could be on the way before the 5 p.m. CT deadline.
Additionally, the Saints were also reportedly interested in reaching a trade agreement with the Chicago Bears for defensive lineman Gervon Dexter Sr., per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
The Bears did the Saints no favors in those conversations, however, sending Dexter to the team’s NFC South rival, the Atlanta Falcons, instead.
New Orleans has been an active trade team during preseason and roster cuts over the last couple of years. It looks like that trends could continue as the 2026 regular season approaches.
