As the New Orleans Saints approach their Monday night contest against the Atlanta Falcons, the team is managing a host of injuries. With a number of key defenders having missed practices throughout the week leading up to the game, some lesser-known players may be called upon to make an impact in the matchup.

LB Isaiah Stalbird

With two linebackers managing injuries:  Kaden Elliss ruled out and Pete Werner questionable for Monday’s game. That means the coverage and blitzing skills of fourth-year linebacker Isaiah Stalbird may be needed at the second level.

Stalbird had a consistent third-down role last season, but has seen that role reduced with Elliss’ ability to be a pass rusher taking up a larger share of those opportunities. If Elliss isn’t able to go, Stalbird could reprise his old role.

EDGE Tyree Wilson

Acquired via a trade during the draft, edge rusher Tyree Wilson hasn’t appeared in a game since Week 1, including being inactive in Week 3. Now, he may be the key rotational edge rusher with Chase Young and Cameron Jordan leading the way at the position.

Edge rushers Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings have been ruled out, leading to Wilson likely seeing an elevated role. It’s a great opportunity for a player looking to revitalize his trajectory.

DL Christen Miller

This one may be just as much about his return than anyone else’s absence, but rookie defensive tackle Christen Miller is back after missing Week 3 with a toe injury.

Against Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, the big-bodied and athletic defensive tackle will be a vital addition to the trenches.
