The New Orleans Saints wrapped up their three-game home stand with a third consecutive loss, this at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings, 23-13.

Head coach Kellen Moore and the Saints offense were flat in their display, while the defense gave life to a Minnesota offense that was still working to find its footing coming into the game.

The Saints (1-4) expected to face Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ aggressive defense, but weren’t able to counter and were limited to 55 rushing yards and 3.8 yards per passing attempt.

It was another rough showing in New Orleans with the Saints heading on the road for their Week 6 matchup with the New York Giants. For a deeper dive into the loss, here are some numbers that tell the story of what didn’t come easy in the Big Easy.

3 – The Saints have only three home wins since Moore took over as the team’s head coach. Over the last 20 home games, the team is only 6-14, regardless of coach.

6 – Under Moore, the Saints only have six fewer first-quarter three-and-outs (29) than first-quarter points scored (35).

18 – The Saints have averaged just 18 offensive points scored per game since the beginning of the 2025 season.

85.2 – Quarterback Tyler Shough was blitzed on 85.2% of his dropbacks. On those plays he was 14 of 22 for 84 passing yards and two interceptions.

87 – Safety Jonas Sanker’s 87-yard fumble return for a touchdown was the second-longest defensive touchdown in Saints’ franchise history. The longest was a 99-yard interception return by former cornerback Patrick Robinson.

96 – Shough’s passing yards total of 96 yards is the lowest by a Saints quarterback with at least 20 passing attempts in franchise history. It’s the lowest total with more than 15 since former offensive weapon Taysom Hill started a run-heavy game against a quarterbackless Denver Broncos team in 2020.

113 – Vikings running back Aaron Jones had 113 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on Sunday against the Saints’ defense. It was his first game with more than 100 rushing yards and a touchdown since the 2024 season.

229 – Minnesota quarterback Kyler Murray threw for 229 passing yards, a passing touchdown and no interceptions. It was his first game with a score, no interceptions and more than 200 passing yards since 2024.

327 – Saints wide receiver Chris Olave now has 330 career receptions, the second-most receptions for a Saints player in their first 60 games.

2002 – The last time the Saints gained less than 150 total yards and committed three turnovers was during the 2002 season. It was the first time since 2021 that the team didn’t gain 150 yards regardless of turnovers.
