Saints not expecting rookie Tyson to practice this week

It appears that it will be at least another week before the New Orleans Saints look at getting rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson back out on the practice field from a hamstring injury suffered on Aug. 13.

Tyson, the dynamic and explosive first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, has been on injured reserve since the beginning of the season and became eligible to return to practice after the team’s Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Head coach Kellen Moore told local media that while Tyson is progressing, expectations remain low that he’ll return to practice this week.

“We’ll see,” he said. “Not right now, and he’s progressing well. He’s doing a good job.”

While he acknowledged that the rookie wideout was improving, it sounds like the wait will continue for a little while longer before Tyson will be able to practice. Once that happens, he’ll have 21 days before the team will have to make a decision whether or not to add him to the active roster.

New Orleans hopes to have Tyson on the field, but has been typically deliberate with the rookie out of an abundance of caution.

It appears now the wait will extend to the team’s practice week in Paris or potentially beyond, as the bye week also presents a different structured, but still viable, opportunity to work the receiver back into the fold.
