The New Orleans Saints ruled two players out ahead of their Week 6 match with the New York Giants: linebacker Kaden Elliss (calf) and edge rusher Anfernee Jennings (knee), but the team also had some big names carrying questionable designations, as well.
In fact, so too did the New York Giants. Both teams carried a list of questionable players, with four big names between the two teams now expected to be available.
Here are some of the injury updates you need to know ahead of Sunday’s game.
New Orleans Saints
WR Chris Olave
The Saints’ top offensive weapon missed the first two practices of the week with illness. While he carried a questionable tag going into the game, it seemed unlikely that wide receiver Chris Olave would actually miss action. Olave now expects to play Sunday, confirming those expectations.
RB Alvin Kamara
Saints running back Alvin Kamara is managing a back injury but expects to play in Sunday’s matchup. Getting a run game going is a necessity for the Saints moving forward, especially while their quarterback, Tyler Shough, is managing a broken left hand. Kamara likely gives the Saints their best chance to finally get the run game going.
New York Giants
EDGE Abdul Carter
Dealing with a calf injury, the Giants’ top edge rusher, Abdul Carter, is expected to play against the Saints on Sunday. Already without fellow EDGE Brian Burns, having Carter available is a big win for New York. Carter will match up the majority of the time with Saints right tackle Taliese Fuaga, who is currently credited with the most pressures surrendered this season by Pro Football Focus.
LT Andrew Thomas
The Giants are also expected to have their starting left tackle, Andrew Thomas, available. He was listed with a groin. Injury. His availability means to expect a heavyweight battle on each edge as Thomas matches up with Saints’ edge rusher Chase Young and Giants tight tackle Jermaine Eluemunor takes on defensive end Carl Granderson.
