It’s been a struggle for first-year head coach Alex Golesh and quarterback Byrum Brown. Way too many turnovers and negative plays have really hurt the Auburn offense. You’d expect this to be a really good rushing team, considering Brown’s prowess on the ground at quarterback. That has been the strength of the unit, but it hasn’t been great.

Brown hasn’t thrown for 160 yards in any of the last three games. He has gone over 100 yards rushing against Tennessee and Georgia. Brown is the team’s leading rusher in terms of carries, yards and rushing touchdowns. He’s got 107 carries on the season, nearly double leading tailback Jeremiah Cobb’s 58.

The 39-pont outburst against Florida has been the outlier so far.

Few teams in the country allow more sacks than Auburn. LSU is second in the country in sacks.

Defensive coordinator DJ Durkin was retained from Hugh Freeze’s staff when Golesh took over. His group is aggressive and disruptive. That’s evident in the plays they make behind the line of scrimmage. Like Kentucky, Auburn has gotten its hands on some passes, too. Sam Leavitt is coming off his first turnover-free game. He’ll need to keep that up.

LSU has thrown the ball really well this year. The Tigers rank eighth nationally in passing offense. The Plainsmen has struggled to force incompletions and have been susceptible to big plays through the air. Georgia threw for 327 yards on Auburn Saturday.
