The New Orleans Saints have opened the practice window for rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, starting the clock on his potential NFL debut in the coming weeks.

Once he makes his way onto the gameday roster, the Saints could field one of the NFL’s most dynamic receiving corps.

The trio of Tyson, Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele each bring distinct skill sets to the table.

Vele has been a contested-catch weapon all season, coming through in the clutch in key third-down situations. He has reeled in six of his 10 contested-catch opportunities so far this year.

Olave is one of the NFL’s top all-around weapons and has consistently ranked in the top five in receiving yards all season. His 636 receiving yards through seven games rank fifth in the NFL, even with the Saints having already had their bye week.

Tyson adds a stellar yards-after-catch threat to the offense. In college, he was elite at turning short gains into intermediate gains and creating breakaway opportunities with the ball in his hands.

Meanwhile, all three receivers have overlapping skills. They can each run routes from the perimeter or in the slot, and all have proven to be excellent route runners and separators.

The Saints were hoping to field this trio beginning in Week 1 as the top options for quarterback Tyler Shough. Instead, they’ve had to wait until at least Week 9 while Tyson recovered from a hamstring injury.

The wait has been longer than the Saints hoped, but once Tyson takes the field, he could prove worth every second.
