CHARLOTTE, NC — The New Orleans Saints have announced their inactives as they close in on their Week 9 showdown with the Carolina Panthers. Among them are three cornerbacks in addition to starter Paulson Adebo who is out for the season with a broken femur. New Orleans will be relying on slot cornerback Alontae Taylor and a couple of additions from their practice squad to help defend the pass against young quarterback Bryce Young and the Panthers.
Here are the Saints inactives for Week 9:
CB Kool-Aid McKinstry (Hamstring)
QB Spencer Rattler (Emergency Third QB)
RB Jamaal Williams (Groin)
CB Marshon Lattimore (Hamstring)
CB Rico Payton (Back)
LB Jaylan Ford
DT John Ridgeway III (Oblique)
In addition to the attrition at cornerback, New Orleans will also be without two running backs. Williams is ruled out and, just two weeks after his return to the field, third-round back Kendre Miller is back on Injured Reserve. Starter Alvin Kamara is still available. Alongside him will be tight end Taysom Hill and second-year back Jordan Mims.
Among notable players to be active. Quarterback Derek Carr is making his return as the Saints’ starting passer. Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is set to make his debut with New Orleans. He was signed to that active roster last week, but was not able to make the turnaround to premiere against the Denver Broncos. Carr and his new weapon will be on the field in Carolina.
