In a thrilling divisional-round game, the Philadelphia Eagles edged out a victory over the Los Angeles Rams despite a late push from the West Coast team.
This means New Orleans Saints head coaching candidate Kellen Moore will not be available for in-person interviews when they begin for teams on Monday.
The Eagles offensive coordinator is headed to the NFC Championship game to square-off with the Washington Commanders. The postseason battle for the honor to represent the conference in this year’s championship game will feature two coaches New Orleans has requested to interview for their open head coaching position.
Along with Moore, Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is also on the Saints’ list.
With the surprise exit of the Detroit Lions in the divisional round, Moore may never see the opportunity to take an in-person visit with New Orleans. Detroit coordinators Ben Johnson and—more importantly for the Saints—Aaron Glenn are expected to be the next coaching dominos to fall.
If Glenn’s domino falls on Airline Drive, the Saints could have their next coach by the end of the week.
However, if Glenn were to choose the New York Jets, opportunities remain open for candidates like Moore. He and the Saints conducted a virtual interview on Saturday, a day before his team’s victory over the Rams.
Moore is currently considered a top option in the head coach search for the Dallas Cowboys.
