Boyd Suffers Apparent Knee Injury

The injuries just keep coming for the New Orleans Saints.
After three earlier injuries, another set in during the fourth quarter of their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Rookie defensive tackle Khristian Boyd went down with what looked like a knee injury. He was able to walk to the sideline under his own power, but did so gingerly, per FOX 8’s Sean Fazende.
That means that every member of the Saints’ 2024 rookie class has endured an injury at some point this offseason. Not the greatest outlook for the team’s ability to keep the youth on their roster healthy.
Health as a whole has been one of the team’s biggest concerns through 2024’s spring and summer, unfortunately. They have been hit with several injuries each week, including at least one new absence in almost every one of their 18 training camp practice sessions.
Throughout camp, Boyd has been one of the most consistent rookie players. He has been consistently disruptive in the run game and has added a lot of flashy moments in the pass rushing area as well.
Head coach Dennis Allen praised not only his work ethic but also his athleticism and movement ability at his size. Boyd has looked like he has already been locked in as the team’s fourth defensive tackle behind returning players Khalen Saunders, Nathan Shepherd and Bryan Bresee.
Seeing anyone go down with a knee injury is always concerning. This will be especially true for the team’s defensive tackle group. The good news so far is that Boyd did leave the injury tent and was able to start testing things out on the sideline, per Saints On SI’s John Hendrix. If he is able to return to the field, that would generate a big sigh of relief for the Saints’.
