Former Saints tackle Terron Armstead sets up retirement

By Ross Jackson
A major storyline emerging from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis has a direct connection to New Orleans Saints fans—despite involving a former player.
Former Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead looks to be setting the scene for his upcoming retirement.
Per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Armstead is adjusting his contract with the Miami Dolphins this offseason, reducing his salary to base minimum.
This has long been a precursor for retirements across the league. The Saints have seen this before with players like quarterback Drew Brees, safety Malcolm Jenkins, and even did so earlier this year with tackle Ryan Ramczyk.
Armstead was a fan favorite before departing to Miami in 2022. Before leaving, he was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Saints and received second-team All-Pro honors in 2018.
Whether or not Armstead will try to find a way to retire as a Saint remains to be seen, but he has stayed connected to the city even after leaving. Whether he retires a Saint or a Dolphin, he will always be represented as one of the best tackles and players in the franchise’s history. It also shouldn’t take long for him to enter the Saints Hall of Fame.
