The Oklahoma Sooners continued their offseason staff revamp Wednesday, announcing the hiring of Jim Nagy as the football program’s general manager, according to a university press release.
Nagy has served as Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl since 2018. He will now be in charge of roster construction, management, and development.
During his seven years as the Executive Director in Mobile, Nagy oversaw five different Senior Bowls. He and his staff saw a minimum 100 players drafted each year, including a record 110 in 2024 with ten first rounders.
“This is a new era in intercollegiate athletics at one of the greatest college football programs in the country,” said Nagy in the Sooners press release. “The legacy of excellence that precedes my arrival is a testament to the leadership at OU and the university’s commitment to execute at a championship level. I am honored to bring my experience and work ethic to this program and am confident that through collaboration and effort, we can achieve excellent results. I am truly excited to get to Norman and begin our process with Coach Venables and his great staff.”
Nagy brings a wealth of experience and an extensive network of agents, NFL front offices, and professional scouts. Prior to his role with the Senior Bowl, Nagy worked for various NFL teams over 18 years including the Seahawks, Patriots, Chiefs, and Redskins.
The Sooners finished the 2024 season with a 6-7 record. It was their second losing record in the last three seasons. They open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Illinois State.
