Study shows America’s choice for No. 1 NFL Draft pick

America is split on who will be the top overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft.
The map below is based on geotagged X data in the last week (including the combine), tracking tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about who the 2025 No. 1 pick will be. For example, “Cam Ward will be the #1 pick,” “Ward will be the first pick,” “Carter will be the #1 pick,” “Travis Hunter will be the #1 pick,” etc. Over 110,000 tweets were tracked.
Three players dominate the conversation: Cam Ward (Miami), Abdul Carter (Penn State), and Travis Hunter (Colorado). No other player beat out one of those three in any state.
This is especially relevant as we just came out of the NFL combine over the weekend.
It seems NFL fans are somewhat split on who will go #1, with many believing it is between Miami QB Cam Ward and Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter.
Not one state picked Shedeur Sanders.
It’s also been noted that Tennessee has been fielding calls for a potential trade for the first pick, so that can certainly change the odds on who is selected first.
Here’s the state breakdown:
Cam Ward – 24 states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, NH, NJ, NY, NC, ND Ohio, SC, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia)
Abdul Carter – 19 states (Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, RI, Washington, WV, Wisconsin)
Travis Hunter – 7 states (Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska, NM, SD, Utah, Wyoming)
