Elliott Davison signing with Saints ‘a dream come true’

By Ross Jackson
Undrafted free agents get a unique opportunity as they enter the league. They may not get their names called during the NFL Draft, but they do then get to make their own selection for where they begin their playing career.
For Elliott Davison, former UTSA safety, signing with the New Orleans Saints was an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass up. Davison explained why the Saints were his choice in undrafted free agency to After Further Review host Matt Moscona, in an exclusive interview on 104.5 ESPN Radio Baton Rouge.
“Well, for one, the Saints had been my favorite team growing up,” Davison said. “That was kind of a mind-blowing thing to know that they were a team that I (grew) up watching and loving to watch, and they were taking interest in me! So that was kind of like a dream come true kind of thing.”
A dream come true moment is also great and for Davison, in addition to landing that chance, he feels just as strongly about what the team has to offer from a play style perspective.
“I just like the style of play and the players that have been there in the past,” he said. “I just like the culture that it brings.”

Davison was introduced to a bit of the Saints’ defensive culture at his Pro Day. Saints defensive passing game coordinator was present taking Davison and his teammates through defensive backs drills.
“So he was kind able to see me first hand,” Davison said of the experience. “I think that’s what really got me in the door.”
Davison said that there were three or four teams that were in contact with him, but ultimately he made the decision to land with the Saints. He and his agent sketched out pros and cons lists for each team and, by the sound of it, Davison’s chance to join the Saints (his childhood favorite team) was just too good to pass up.
