Saints sign QB Hunter Dekkers, waive LB Anfernee Orji

The New Orleans Saints officially signed rookie quarterback Hunter Dekkers on Monday, prompting a corresponding move to stay within the team’s roster limit.
The Saints waived linebacker Anfernee Orji. The linebacker spent the last two seasons with New Orleans after entering the league as an undrafted free agent.
To make up the last remaining space after signing three players yesterday, the #saints waiver LB Anfernee Orji.
The signing of Hunter Dekkers was also made official.

He held a special teams role with the team, but did get chances late last year to contribute more on defense. His rangy play style and aggressive nature stood out on the field.
A move at this position, which is already lacking experience, is a bit surprising. Assuming Orji doesn’t reunite with former Saints coach Dennis Allen in Chicago, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him back in New Orleans after the retirements of quarterback Derek Carr and offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk post in June, opening a pair of roster spots.
