The preseason No. 1 team in the country saw its season end Friday when a Texas A&M rally fell short in a 4-3 loss to LSU. The Tigers will meet Ole Miss in the Semifinals Saturday after the Rebels upset Arkansas in the first game Friday.

Game 11: Arkansas vs. Ole Miss

Arkansas was playing with house money after having locked up a national seed. Still, the Hogs has ace Zach Root on the bump against an Ole Miss team still fighting for a Regional host site. Rebs starter Riley Maddox outdueled Root with 5.2 innings of two run ball, allowing only three hits. Ole Miss struck for a five spot in the top of the first and made it hold up in a 5-2 win.

Arkansas answered with a run in the first and second innings, but that was all the offense the Hogs would muster on the day. In the bottom of the second, Cam Kozeal scored on an inside the park homerun after two Rebel outfielders collided in a scary moment. After a long delay, Ryan Moerman would exit while centerfielder Isaac Humphrey would remain in the game.

Final Score: Ole Miss 5, Arkansas 2

Game 12: LSU vs. Texas A&M

After scoring two runs in the first, LSU raced out to a 4-0 lead on Ethan Frey’s homerun in the bottom of the third inning, but that was all the offense the Tigers would muster. Kade Anderson was masterful with 12 strikeouts in six innings of work, but he would allow three runs, exiting with a 4-3 lead.

Jay Johnson pulled a stunner, calling on No. 2 starter Anthony Eyanson out of the bullpen to close out the win. In his first relief appearance of the season, Eyanson worked three scoreless innings to earn his first save of the season.

Controversy emerged in the seventh inning when the Aggies appeared to tie the game, but Ben Royo was called out for runners interference and the tying run was sent back to third. A failed squeeze bunt and strikeout would end the threat.

Final Score: LSU 4, Texas A&M 3
