The Mountaineers await the Baton Rouge Regional winner in next week’s Super Regional round. Should LSU win, West Virginia will travel to Baton Rouge. The Mountaineers would host Little Rock if the Trojans can beat LSU twice.
West Virginia opened the regional with a 4-3 win over the Wildcats. Then the Mountaineers toppled host Clemson 9-6 on Saturday night setting up Sunday’s thrilling win and clean weekend sweep.
The Mountaineers won the Big 12, but they limped to the finish line, dropping six of their last seven in the regular season including five of their last six league games. Then they were bounced from the Big 12 Tournament in their second game.
West Virginia enters Super Regional play 44-14.
Dates and times for Super Regional action will be announced Monday after the completion of all 16 regionals.
