There was chatter that the New Orleans Saints, who are content with their young quarterback room, should consider pursuing the 20-year veteran to help them through the 2025 season. However, the Saints appeared to have no interest in doing so.
Similarly, Rodgers made it well known that he too had no interest in playing for the Saints. He cited his age and not-so-gently referring to the state of Louisiana, presumably because of the heat, as a less than desirable landing spot for him.
After all of the speculation and recommendations from May that the Saints should turn to Rodgers after the retirement of former quarterback Derek Carr, the team has successfully dodged the bullet.
Rodgers will instead head to Pittsburgh, where he will open his season against his former team, the New York Jets.
Meanwhile, New Orleans will continue to pace its way through the ongoing quarterback battle between second-year passer Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough.
