John Emery Jr. will seek a seventh year of college football, but it won’t be at LSU.
Head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that on Saturday after practice.
“We’ll be supportive in any way that we can, but we’re set at the running back position,” Kelly said.

Emery spent six years at LSU beginning in 2019 when he was a five-star recruit.
LSU currently has five scholarship running backs on the official roster. Caden Durham, Kaleb Jackson and freshman Harlem Berry are participating in spring practice. Freshman JT Lindsey will enroll this summer. Trey Holly is listed on the official roster but is away from the team as his legal situation resolves itself. Holly still faces charges of illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property and is set for trial on July 7.
