The measure of improvement will look different for the New Orleans Saints in 2025 than usual. The team may not necessarily turn in a ton of wins this year with so much changing over the offseason, including a new head coach and new, young starting quarterback.
Improvement will have to be measured not by wins, but by progress made toward building the team’s next foundation. Much of the Saints’ audience is expecting the team to be in a multi-year rebuild.
So what does that mean for 2025?
FanDuel Sportsbook lists expected win totals for each NFL team. They have three possible outcomes for New Orleans.
- On the low end: 3.5 wins
- The real expectation: 5.5 wins
- Best-case scenario: 7.5 wins
The real win total projection for New Orleans is set at 5.5, which is essentially asking the question: did the team get better than they were last year?
New Orleans finished at the bottom of the NFC South with a 5-13 record. It was the first time the team finished with less than seven wins since 2005, but also the fourth consecutive year without a playoff appearance and fourth-straight without reaching 10 wins.
It’s been a tough go for the Saints.
Win totals wise, that may very well continue in 2025. However, competent, competitive play, better health outcomes, and promise are all the Saints need to have a successful year.
