Omar Serna, a 6-foot-2 backstop from Pearland, Texas, tweeted that he’s headed to Baton Rouge as opposed to waiting out the MLB Draft.
Serna possesses exceptional tools in his bat speed, arm strength and athleticism. He has been considered a potentially high draft choice for multiple years.
Last year, Houston native Cade Arrambide, the Gatorade Texas Player of the Year, turned down MLB dollars to enroll at LSU. Serna joins him at a position Jay Johnson pledged to prioritize after the 2022 season.
Eddie Yamin figures to join the two Texans in the LSU catching spot at this point.
