While restructuring their running back room, the New Orleans Saints moved on from a couple of rushers over the offseason. One of which was former Fresno State running back Jordan Mims.
Mims joined the Saints ahead of the 2023 NFL season after not making the roster with the Buffalo Bills, where he signed as an undrafted free agent. The Saints signed him after being waived by Buffalo, and he spent a pair of years with the Saints developing mostly in the background.
While he was a developmental prospect, he did get some in-game opportunities.
Last year, Mims was given 20 carries and picked up 70 rushing yards in the process. He also added 12 receptions for 71 yards.
With the progress he had made since his rookie season, it was expected that he might get another chance in the Big Easy in 2025. But with the changes to the coaching staff and new direction of the team’s rushing approach, Mims was waived in May.
Now, per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Mims has signed with the Tennessee Titans on a two-year deal.
The Saints running back room remained heavily populated, however. The team’s seven backs will be a focal point throughout training camp. Behind starter Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Devin Neal, Cam Akers, Velus Jones Jr. and Marcus Yarns will all be justling for positioning and the right to complement Kamara in the run game as a part of the team’s running back committee.
