Darryus McKinley, the younger brother of LSU defensive tackle Dominick McKinley, announced his commitment to LSU Friday. He becomes the 17th member of the Tigers 2026 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-3, 270 pound defensive tackle chose LSU over a list of finalists that included Florida, Tennessee and Texas. LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker served as McKinley’s primary recruiter.

A standout interior player at Lafayette (La.) Acadiana, McKinley is ranked No. 477 in the Rivals Industry Ranking and the 48th best defensive tackle in the country.
Brian Kelly’s staff has continued to corral the top talent in Louisiana. The Tigers currently have commitments from six of the top seven players in the state for 2026. McKinley is ranked as the 16th best player in Louisiana this cycle.
Richard Anderson of New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr, the No. 2 defensive tackle in the country, is the only other interior defensive lineman committed to LSU for 2026. The Tigers signed four tackles in the 2025 class under Bo Davis, although Dilan Battle transferred after spring once Davis left for the New Orleans Saints.
LSU will lose seniors Jacobian Guillory and transfer Bernard Gooden after the 2025 season but will still have strong numbers for 2026. Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux will be juniors while Texas transfer Sydir Mitchell and Shone Washington will still have eligibility. The three 2025 freshman and the 2026 class will give defensive tackles coach Kyle Williams a strong group.
Another defensive tackle target, Deuce Geralds, is set to announce his commitment Saturday. LSU joins Oregon and Ole Miss as finalists.
