On Thursday the SEC announced that it would be going to nine conference games. The model they’ll use is 3+6 with three permanent opponents and rotating the other 12 teams with home and home series featuring six teams over two seasons and six over the next two. That way every team will face each other every four years no matter what.
The announcement of the permanent three opponents has not been made yet. However, one of the main criteria is to preserve some of the traditional rivalries from the SEC and keep as much of the tradition as possible.
Here’s my best guess for which 3 teams every SEC team will land with.
Alabama – Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State
Arkansas – Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri
Auburn – Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky
Florida – Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina
