Twenty-five years after his father starred for a national title team, Drake Hawpe has committed to LSU.
Brad Hawpe manned first base for the 2000 national champs, famously homering off All-American Mark Prior in Omaha along the way. He would go on to play nine seasons of Major League Baseball making the All-Star team with the Rockies in 2009.
Now it’s Drake’s turn.
I would like to thank the Lord for this opportunity and also my family and coaches, with that being said I will be committing to LSU. Geaux Tigers!! @LSUCoachJ @CoachJordan2 @LCSBaseball @follow_cobras pic.twitter.com/ZsSX7KM3hI

The younger Hawpe is among the best players in Texas for the 2027 class. He plays for Liberty Christian outside of Dallas.
He’s a left-handed hitter like his father and already stands a towering 6-foot-4. Hawpe is the fifth commitment to LSU since Saturday.
