Jahkeem Stewart is staying in Louisiana—for now.

According to multiple reports, the No. 1 player in the class of 2026 is now enrolled at Edna Karr and began classes Tuesday.

The 6-foot-6, 270 pound defensive tackle confirmed last week that he was leaving St. Augustine High School in New Orleans.  It is believed he made the decision in order to reclassify for the class of 2025 and graduate in December.

Rivals is reporting that Stewart will be ineligible to play this fall.  Current Karr receiver TaRon Francis is committed to LSU for 2025.  Two additional Karr players—safety Aidan Hall and defensive tackle Richard Anderson—are committed to the Tigers for 2026.

Stewart took a handful of visits this summer, but seems to have narrowed his college choice to in-state LSU, Texas and Oregon.  He also visited Auburn and Ohio State.  The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives LSU a 91.1% chance of landing Stewart.

The Tigers currently have four defensive tackles committed for 2025.
