It’s becoming routine at this point. I feel like I say it every week, and it’s way less about me being hyperbolic, dramatic, and/or a prisoner of the moment.
That was one of the best games of the season.
This time it was in Athens as No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 9 Georgia played in a barn burner for four straight quarters.
The Dawgs won 43-35.
The game featured 78 points, seven lead changes, and 861 yards of offense, and just two punts–both by Ole Miss.

In the end, it was Gunner Stockton and the Dawgs’ defense that were the difference. Ole Miss played extremely well behind everyone’s favorite Division II quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. The Rebs scored on their first five possessions and held a 35-26 lead at the end of the third quarter. Chambliss finished the game 19-of-36 with 305 yards of offense and three touchdowns.
But, great coaches make halftime adjustments, and very few teams do that better than Kirby Smart’s squad. The Bulldogs outgained the Rebels by 100 yards in the second half and had 19 first downs to Ole Miss’ four.
As great as Chambliss was for Ole Miss, it faded in the second half, and Stockton was even better for the Dawgs. Chambliss was just 5-of-15 in the second half. Meanwhile, Stockton completed 84 percent of his passes (26-of-31) for 348 yards and five touchdowns.

When the Game was won
Ole Miss punted for just the second time in the game with 6:32 left in the fourth quarter while Georgia held a 40-35 lead. Georgia converted four first downs and held the ball for 4 minutes and 26 seconds making it an eight-point game.
Numbers to Know
