A light afternoon SEC slate didn’t disappoint. Vanderbilt and Auburn played in one of the best games of the year, Texas A&M eliminated Missouri from the College Football Playoff, and Georgia didn’t miss a beat in Starkville against the Bulldogs.
Here’s a recap of the SEC Saturday afternoon games from Week 11.
Texas A&M improves to 9-0
Both Missouri and Texas A&M came into Saturday’s showdown off a bye week and looking for a win to help their College Football Playoff hopes. The Aggies had a mulligan to use if they lost. Missouri however, was in must-win mode. That’s not a great place to be in in general, but especially when the Tigers were down to their third string quarterback.
Matt Zollers looked very much like a freshman against the Aggies defense. Going into the third quarter he was 4-for-14 for 39 yards and the Aggies held a 24-7 lead.

That was emblematic of most of the day. Texas A&M was fantastic and kept Missouri out of this game almost from the opening whistle. They ended the game with 464 yards behind Marcel Reed’s 250 yards of offense and two touchdowns on 20-of-29 passing.
The Aggies improve to 9-0 and with South Carolina and Samford on deck should be 11-0 heading into their season finale against Texas.
Georgia trounces Mississippi State
There was a lot of concern that Georgia may come out and play with their food against Mississippi State. It was a perfect trap game sandwiched in between their annual rivalry game against Florida and next week’s game against Texas. Combine that with the fact that Mississippi State was not only coming off their first conference win since 2023 but also an FBS leading 8-1 against the spread this year.
That didn’t matter.
Georgia did not play with their food. They essentially made a meal out of the Bulldogs. The other Bulldogs I should say.

Georgia won 41-21 and had one of their best offensive performances of the season. Gunner Stockton led Georgia’s offense to 567 yards with over 300 yards on the ground. Stockton was incredibly efficient once again. He finished the day 18-of 29 for 295 yards and three touchdowns. Mississippi State struggled to find any consistency on offense for most of the day, but especially after Blake Shapen left the game with a shoulder injury.
Georgia improves to 8-1. Mississippi State fell to 5-5 and will need a win against Missouri or Ole Miss to get to bowl eligibility.
Vanderbilt outlasts Auburn
The offense that Hugh Freeze promised Auburn fans finally emerged. It just so happened to be a week after he was fired. The Tigers were able to score 38 points. But, it still wasn’t enough.
Vanderbilt fought and clawed their way back and overcame one of the most questionable coaching decisions of the season. With the game tied at 38 and a 1:07 left in regulation, Vanderbilt faced a 4th and 1 from the Auburn 25 yard line. Despite Vanderbilt’s kicker Brock Taylor being 8-of-9 on the season with a long of 51 and 7-of-9 from 40 or more yards over the last two seasons, the Commodores went for it. They came up short and the game ultimately went to overtime.

Vanderbilt was able to score on their first drive and hold Auburn scoreless after a big stop on fourth and seven. The game was a barn burner with the teams combining for over 1,100 yards of offense. Vanderbilt got the 45-38 win and kept their playoff hopes alive. Auburn fell to 4-6 and will now need to win out against Mercer and Alabama to avoid a fifth straight losing season.
