A painful, frustrating senior season hit another bump for Garrett Nussmeier on Thursday.
The Tiger quarterback aggravated an injury in practice and has been officially listed as “Probable” for LSU on Saturday.
“A little nagging injury reoccurred with Garrett Nussmeier today,” said interim head coach Frank Wilson. “So, I think he’s probable but concerning. It’s something we need to watch and monitor as we head into the game.”
Nussmeier suffered a torso injury in August that cost him practice time. He also dealt with patellar tendinitis during fall camp.
Through all the issues, Nussmeier has not missed any game time to this point, but his bumps and bruises have become well-documented.
If Nussmeier cannot go, sophomore Michael Van Buren has taken some first team reps this week after entering the game at Alabama in the second half a week ago. Wilson indicated Monday that both would play in the game against Arkansas.
On a positive note, both left tackle Carius Curne and wide receiver Aaron Anderson were described as “full go” for the Tiger offense. Neither was listed on the official report.
Whit Weeks was listed as “Questionable” on Wednesday. That remained the case Thursday.
“He has participated in team events,” Wilson said. “He participated (Thursday) as well. He has been on a pitch count. Limited. He is probably a game day decision. We’ll continue to monitor him throughout the week. He’s been engaged. He’s been practicing.”
Tyree Adams, Gabriel Reliford and Nic Anderson remain “Out”.
LSU and Arkansas kick off at 11:45am on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
