Florida is hiring Tulane’s Jon Sumrall to be its next head coach. Sumrall led the Green Wave for two seasons and has posted a 19-7 record. Tulane was the top-ranked Group of Five team in last week’s College Football Playoff ranking. Their blowout of Charlotte on Saturday night clinched a spot in the AAC Championship Game against North Texas. A win would likely lock up a playoff spot.
Florida fired Billy Napier midway through his fourth season in Gainesville. The Gators beat Florida State on Saturday to finish the season 4-8.
No report has confirmed whether or not Sumrall will coach Tulane’s remaining game this season.
