O’Sullivan has been away from the program for almost two months after announcing his leave on October 22. He left amid issues away from the field involving personal matters with his stepchildren.
The leave wasn’t without hiccups, as the interim head coach Chuck Jeroloman left for a position on Josh Elander’s staff at Tennessee a week after O’Sullivan’s initial leave. The Gators lost two high profile recruits as well with one going to Mississippi State and another to Texas A&M. O’Sullivan’s return comes just before the new year and a 19th season at the helm in Gainesville.
“I want to thank the University and athletic department for their support,” said O’Sullivan. “I am excited to be back and am ready to get to work with our team as we prepare for the upcoming 2026 season.”
O’Sullivan has a career record of 756-371 (.671) in 18 seasons as the Gators head coach. That includes 17 NCAA regionals, nine College World Series appearances, six SEC championships and the 2017 national title.
