The LSU staff members coaching Ole Miss through their College Football Playoff run have been spending their off days working with the LSU staff in Baton Rouge. The Rebels defeated Tulane in the First Round Saturday to advance to the Quarterfinals Jan. 1 against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Smith will replace Frank Wilson who is expected to join Pete Golding’s Ole Miss staff in a similar role. The former UFC and NFL running back has been on Kiffin’s staff each of the past nine seasons at Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss.
Kiffin has now filled nine of his ten full-time on-field assistant roles. Multiple reports have South Carolina defensive run game coordinator Sterling Lucas filling the final spot on the defensive staff. He would replace Kyle Williams who will not return after just one season on LSU’s staff.
On3 was the first to report the news.
