METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints were back on the practice field Wednesday for their second day of practice in the amended holiday week. The list of players not spotted grew, but the core of the Saints’ weapons remain available ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
Here is the list of players not seen during the open portion of Wednesday’s practice:
- RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle)
- LB Nephi Sewell
- RG Cesar Ruiz (ankle)
- TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden (knee)
- TE Foster Moreau (ankle)
- DT Bryan Bresee (knee)
- DT Davon Godchaux (NIR-rest)
- DT Nathan Shepherd
Kamara appears to be on track to miss his fifth-consecutive game with knee and ankle injuries, though it’s the knee injury that has kept him sidelined. The versatile back has been missed in New Orleans as the team has not rushed for over 100 yards in four of the last five games in which he was either injured or out. Running back Audric Estime and Evan Hull will again be in the driver’s seat while quarterback Taysom Hill is likely to continue contributing.
The Saints’ defense line will be without Bresee and now Shepherd’s absence threatens to compound the missing pieces. He had a strong game against his former team last week in the Saints’ win over the New York Jets. The injury report in the afternoon will provide more context around his and the other new injuries. It’s assumed that Godchaux is on his usual Thursday schedule with the practice.
