The early transfer portal action for LSU has come on the offensive side of the ball.
That’s no surprise.
The LSU offense needs a complete revamping, and that’s underway. Two wide receivers, a tight end and a running back formed the first quartet of additions, and that running back is Utah transfer Raycine Guillory.
WHAT WE KNOW
Guillory was considered an elite 2026 prospect coming out of Texas powerhouse Aledo in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He committed to the Texas Longhorns over offers from some big-time schools including Ole Miss where Lane Kiffin and Kevin Smith recruited him.
Ultimately, Guillory decided to reclassify to the 2025 cycle which altered his recruitment. He ended up at Utah.
He’s only 5-foot-9 and 195 lbs., but he’s a high school track star who averaged 8.1 yards per carry in his final high school season as a junior.

Guillory only appeared in one game at Utah, the first of the season against Cal Poly. He ran once for four yards. That lone action preserved his redshirt, so he’s got four years of eligibility remaining.
THE FIT
LSU has to add three running backs. Harlem Berry will return for his sophomore season, but he’s the lone holdover. Guillory makes two, and two more need to make their way to Baton Rouge unless JT Lindsey decides to stay.
The sport is a year-to-year operation as opposed to what it was a decade ago, so suggesting that Berry as a sophomore and Guillory as a redshirt freshman assures some stability at the position would be ambitious. However, that option is available. Both are a long way from exhausting their eligibility.
Both backs are shifty and speedy. Neither, at this point, is too physically imposing. But both are very young players with time to fill out.
HUNT’S PROJECTION
You could suggest Guillory is nothing more than a backup from Utah who ran once for four yards. You’d be correct. But that’s not the whole truth.

Guillory was a good enough prospect for Texas to take his commitment. He’s got really good vision and plenty of speed. His size isn’t going to allow him to run over SEC linebackers with regularity, but his center a gravity makes him tough to tackle. We’ll see what else comes from the portal in terms of running backs, but I think it’s possible that Guillory is the second option behind Berry. I think it’s more likely Guillory is the third back as LSU finds someone with a little more power as an inside option.
The hope will be to keep Guillory around as he develops beyond what should be his first year in college.
