With Nic Anderson’s Wednesday departure, only Phillip Wright remains from LSU’s 2025 wide receiver corps.
Nine transfers help offset that.
Lane Kiffin’s offense prioritizes speed. He’s brought that in. Skillset diversity is also important. LSU has that.
Some has come from the lower ranks. Some from the Power Four. Only two come over from an SEC rival, Winston Watkins and Florida’s Tre Wilson.
WHAT WE KNOW
Wilson was among the most decorated signees Billy Napier inked at Florida. On3 called him a five-star recruit and the No. 4 wide out in the class. ESPN also pegged him as a top 10 receiver.
He immediately proved all that right with a Freshman All-America season according to On3, College Football News, 247sports and the Football Writers Association of America. He caught 61 passes for 538 yards and six touchdowns while adding in six carries for 55 yards.

After that, injuries riddled his time in Gainesville. He only played in four games, as a sophomore, due to a significant hip injury and eight last season, as a redshirt sophomore, because of a high ankle sprain.
In his final game as a Gator, Wilson made nine catches for 121 yards and a touchdown against Georgia.
He’s a bit under 6-feet tall and weighs 194 lbs. When healthy, he’s been an explosive player.

THE FIT
Kiffin produces a ton of big plays, and Wilson can make them. He’s also a dependable slot weapon due to his lateral quickness and breakaway speed. He may be the best run after the catch player in the class.
The question is, can he get back to his freshman self when he had 480 yards after the catch, an average of eight yards per reception? He also didn’t drop a pass all season. He was credited with three in 2025.

He, like the rest of the group LSU is bringing in, is going to have to battle every day for playing time.
No one in the bunch boasts the high school and freshman accolades Wilson garnered.
HUNT’S PROJECTION
I think Wilson and Watkins battle for that slot role with Jayce Brown and Jackson Harris, the favorites on the outside. I also like Tre Brown from Old Dominion.
For those scoring at home, that’s Jayce Brown, Tre Brown and Tre Wilson. Easy enough.
I think Wilson is among LSU’s top five targets this season with Trey’Dez Green (another Trey* and color) obviously jumping in the mix.
Is Wilson destined for the All-America status he played to as a freshman? That’s probably too steep an ask with this much talent coming in around him and two significantly marred seasons in the recent past. We may have learned some of that lesson with Anderson in 2025.
But if every wide receiver LSU brought in is at his best in the spring and the fall, Wilson will be right near the top in terms of production.
