There’s a familiar face in a new place for New Orleans as the Saints add recently-retired offensive lineman Will Clapp to their coaching staff.
The team announced on Tuesday morning that Clapp will be joining the team as a new offensive assistant ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Upon announcing his retirement via social media during the NFL Scouting Combine, it was immediately assumed that the Brother Martin alum was likely to make it back to the team in little to no time.
Following the departure of former offensive lineman and four-year coaching staff member Jahri Evans as assistant offensive line coach, the fit for Clapp was obvious. After suffering a Lisfranc injury during the 2025 preseason, Clapp’s year came to a premature end. Despite that, he was still heavily involved with the team helping out the coaching staff at practices and even on the sideline during games.
The former LSU Tigers’ transition into coaching is a natural progression. He now gets a chance to remain home in New Orleans while continuing his next endeavor as his former team’s offensive assistant.
Clapp’s eight-year career began as a 2018 seventh-round draft selection by the Saints. He appeared in 66 career games in the Crescent City before making stops with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he first teamed up with Saints head coach Kellen Moore, and the Buffalo Bills in 2024.
