The administrative caravan from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge continues.
McNeese has announced that Athletic Director Heath Schroyer is leaving for LSU. He’ll serve as Senior Deputy AD/Executive Director of External Relations for the LSU System.
Schroyer was named AD in Lake Charles in 2020 and was integral in hiring Will Wade to lead the basketball program which has reached the NCAA Tournament three straight years. He worked for current LSU President Dr. Wade Rousse at McNeese.
Schroyer is a basketball coach by nature. He coached in college for 26 years, 24 at the Division 1 level. A dozen of those were as a head coach at Portland State, Wyoming, Tennessee-Martin and McNeese.
The 54-year-old is a Walkersville, Maryland, native.
This move will ramp up speculation about the future of LSU’s basketball program. Schroyer, Dr. Rousse and Wade remain close, and a reunion in Baton Rouge could be coming.
