By Chris Marler and Jacob Hester
It was an up-and-down day in our best bets. Jacob Hester struggled, going 0-4, though he remains at .500 overall. Chris Marler went 3-3. Here are their best bets for Friday’s Sweet 16.
Jake’s Bets
- Iowa State -3.5
- Duke -6.5
- Michigan -8.5
- UConn/Michigan State Under 134.5
Jake’s Takes
If there’s one game I’d plant my flag on it’s Iowa State covering against Tennessee.
The Cyclones are a more complete, physical team and are expected to win and cover. They will control the tempo, force tough looks and win by six to ten points.
Then there’s Duke and St. John’s. Duke has more ways to win and plays with elite defensive efficiency. Michigan and Alabama is a big mismatch, especially inside. They’re a more consistent two-way team and arguably the best team left in the field.
Finally, Michigan State and UConn will be a rock fight. History screams it will be a slower tempo.
Marler’s Bets
- Alabama +5.5 1st Half
- St. John’s +6.5
- Latrell Wrightsell Over 2.5 3 Pt
- Yaxel Lendeborg Over 1.5 3 Pt
- Iowa State ML *Lock of the Day*
Marler’s Takes
I feel better about these games after going 9-5 on the Friday/Sunday games last week. For whatever reason I saw the board more clearly in those games. Hopefully that continues. Best of luck!
