Two Saints WRs, starting OL absent Friday

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints are up for a tough task trying to rebound their running game against the Atlanta Falcons in their upcoming Week 4 contest. However, their wide receiver depth has now taken a hit as well. Two wideouts missed Friday’s practice, one of them for the second consecutive day. New Orleans will have to rely on its top threats to produce and stay healthy on Sunday.
Here is the attendance from Friday’s portion of practice that was open to the media:
Not Seen:
WR Cedrick Wilson Jr.
WR A.T. Perry
OL Cesar Ruiz
Observing:
LB Demario Davis
With both Wilson Jr. and Perry missing, things do not look good for their outlook to play Sunday. Wilson Jr.’s injury happened during Thursday’s practice, he was listed as limited with an ankle injury on the injury report.
With both of their availability now hanging in the balance, the Saints are likely to elevate another wide receiver to go with Olave, Shaheed and rookies Bub Means and Mason Tipton. Equanimeous St. Brown seems to be the next likely option as a standard elevation.
Dennis Allen told reporters after practice that Davis will not play against Sunday.
It looks like the Saints will be without both their starting center Erik McCoy and right guard Cesar Ruiz. Expect offensive linemen like Landon Young, Oli Udoh, Nick Saldiveri and Shane Lemiuex to get called into action. Lemieux has experience at center if the team wanted to maintain their three starters Taliese Fuaga, Trevor Penning and Lucas Patrick in their designated positions.
This week’s final injury report, with game designations, will be released Friday afternoon.
