The first wave of official visits are still happening around the country, and the pace of decisions has finally followed suit. Here’s a look at the latest on everything happening in the basketball transfer portal following day six.
By the numbers
It was another busy day in the portal as the first wave of weekend commitments started to roll in. Saturday saw 23 players on the men’s side commit to a new school, including the No. 1 overall prospect in the portal.
After a very slow start to the cycle there have been over 50 commitments in the last 48 hours. The numbers around the SEC are still extremely lopsided. As of Sunday morning, there are only six commitments from the transfer portal in the whole conference.
LSU on commitment watch
While Will Wade has still yet to land his first commitment from this year’s portal cycle, Kim Mulkey got one off the board on Saturday, and may get some more good news before the weekend is over.
LSU is currently hosting Iowa State’s Jada Williams on an official visit. She was a first team All-Big 12 selection this year and averaged over 15 ppg along with 7.7 assists per game. That was good enough for third most in the country. LSU lost one Jada on Thursday as starting PG Jada Richard shocked everyone by entering the portal. They may replace one Jada with another if Mulkey can land the transfer.
BREAKING: #IowaState transfer guard, Jada Williams is currently on campus in Baton Rouge for a visit with #LSU.
The All-Big 12 guard averaged 15.3PPG, 3.5RPG, and 7.7APG, this past season for the Cyclones.

Dedan Thomas commits to Houston
Last year’s biggest purchase for LSU went on sale again after an incredibly disappointing year together. Dedan Thomas was one of the top ten players in last year’s cycle and got around $2 million to come to LSU. On Saturday, he announced his new destination.
There was a lot of speculation that he would stay in the SEC with Alabama and Texas being two teams to watch out for. Instead, he’ll leave LSU and head off to the city with the biggest LSU alumni base outside of the state – Houston.
The Thomas marriage was a failed one despite it being no one’s fault necessarily. If there’s a silver lining in this it’s that at least he didn’t transfer to another school in the league where LSU would have to play him. Now everyone can just move on.
NEWS: Houston has landed LSU transfer guard Dedan Thomas Jr., source told @TheFieldOf68.
The 6-1 junior averaged 15.3 ppg/6.5 apg across 16 contest for the Tigers. Started at UNLV and has averaged double-digit points his whole career. pic.twitter.com/UtGMdBndjD

UNC’s social media team needs enter the portal
On a lighter, less newsy note – UNC may be more delusional than any of us could have ever imagined. On Saturday their social media team put out a recruiting graphic about their new head coach and all the success he’s had developing players.
College graduation is still a month away, so I assumed the time to start lying on job resumes would wait a few more weeks.
I was wrong.
Among the list of players developed at the historic University of North Carolina was Steph Curry and Lebron James. I, for one, will never forget the incredible college career of Lebron James in Chapel Hill. It was right before Kalen DeBoer was able to turn Derrick Henry and Joe Namath into the NFL legends they each became.
Just to list a few. pic.twitter.com/66mvDjJg6n
