Jake Brown’s season is over.
The LSU outfielder, who leads the Tigers with 16 home runs and 49 runs driven in, has a broken hamate bone in his hand that will require surgery, multiple sources have confirmed to LouisianaSports.net. He will not return this season. Brown has started all 41 games for the Tigers in right field.
The injury comes at an awful time as the Tigers have dropped six straight SEC games and travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State this coming weekend.
Brown, a junior, is draft eligible. He has likely played his last game as a Tiger.
LSU’s injury issues are significant.
Seth Dardar and Trent Caraway missed the weekend with lingering health issues. Chris Stanfield is playing through pain in left field. Starting pitcher Cooper Moore has missed a month.
LSU is looking for answers, and more questions keep piling up.
Daniel Harden has been the primary outfield replacement for LSU. Tanner Reaves and Mason Braun have played some in the outfield this season, and freshman William Patrick is an elite athlete who can defend in right.
LSU returns to action Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. against UNO.
