The theme of the New Orleans Saints’ 2026 offseason has been a hard one to miss. After a slew of free agency signings adding weapons around quarterback Tyler Shough like running back Travis Etienne Jr. and tight end Noah Fant as well as bolstering the protection in front of the second-year passer with the addition of offensive lineman David Edwards, the Saints placed the proverbial cherry on top with the first-round selection of Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.
The move has helped to put some finishing touches on a job that may not yet be complete, but that has made much progress: building an explosive offense.
Along with the Saints’ new additions, the team is already equipped with wide receiver Chris Olave and tight end Juwan Johnson, both of which are coming off of career years, and could also be prepared to run things back with star ball-carrier Alvin Kamara.
New Orleans also still holds seven remaining selections in this year’s draft, including two in the top-75.
The Kamara factor may end up being decided by whether or not the Saints invest any of that remaining draft capital into the running back room. But in any case, a backfield-mate for Etienne would be solidified by the time the 2026 season begins.
General manager Mickey Loomis said in his pre-draft media availability that the team is not just one player away. But that doesn’t mean that one player on offense can’t make an invaluable difference. Tyson can be that difference-maker on his side of the ball, while soon-to-be selected future Saints can help to continue the defense’s ascension.
The Saints have put a lot of resources into revitalizing their offensive attack this offseason after finishing 2025 as the No. 23 team in passing yards and No. 28 scoring club.
With the team’s rebuilt arsenal of weapons, with room for more to be introduced, the Saints’ goal of bringing explosive offenses back to the Big Easy is progressing with much promise.
