Some personalities stand out throughout the draft process as pleasant or high-character. Others are completely infectious. The New Orleans Saints’ second round pick, Georgia defensive tackle Christen Miller, qualifies for the latter.
After being selected No. 42 overall, the 6-foot-4, 321-pound interior defender described his game to local media. In doing so, it became clear that Miller doesn’t lack confidence, nor does he lack an understanding of how he can have an impact in New Orleans.
“I just like being a Swiss Army knife,” Miller said. “I feel like anything my coach tells me to do, I can do it. From being dominant, from being dominant in the inside, at nose, from being dominant at the 3-tech position dominant, the 4i dominant, the (5-tech). I can just do everything. And I think I just bring that versatility to the game. And just my mindset. I think my mindset is just second to none. I think I got the best mindset in the class.”
Miller already has a vast appreciation for the city from his favorite cultural cuisine to what makes the community special.
“I love the city,” Miller said when asked about New Orleans. “I love them glazed beignets. I gotta stay away from them, though. I gotta stay away from them. I’m gonna kind of just portion that out a little bit. But I love the city of New Orleans, it’s the city of camaraderie.”
Despite the infectious attitude and shining confidence, Miller also took time to outline what he wants to do in order to get better upon arrival in the Crescent City. When asked about what it is that he does well, he instead took time to highlight the improvements he hopes to make.
“I can get even better at run stopping,” he said. “I think I’ve got to make all the plays that come to me. I’ve got to go through the process more. I’ve got to go through my first gap, go through my second gap, and go make the plays. And I think I ain’t even reached my potential yet.“
